Pleats Near Ice

One of the fun things about life is meeting new people.  That may sound trite, but I mean it sincerely.  I love it.  Love hearing people's stories and seeing how lives intersect.  Tonight I got to hang out with a new friend and I loved it.  I went with Sheri Landry of This Bird's Day to Stars on Ice and it was UNBELIEVABLE.  I tried not to sound like too much of a nerd, but I was simply astounded by the physicality and artistry of the skating.  Sure there could have been more shirtlessness, but there were children in the audience...  I know what you're thinking.  "Inappropriate."  "What does a stylish quite young mother of three wear to an ice skating show when it's 30 degrees outside?"  Sequins, of course.
Sequins tank $3 and silk pleated skirt $5 VV Boutique
Fossil cross-body bag $5.60 VV Boutique
Denim coat circa 2000-and-ancient, H&M Scarf

I asked a complete stranger to snap this photo, guessing that she would assume I wanted to pose with the Great One.  I should have left it at that.  But nooooooooooo.  I had to have a head-to-toe view, so I asked her to take a second shot...  And that is how I came to be photographed with Wayne Gretzky's statue-junk atop my head.
I simply cannot make these experiences up.

Anyway, my outfit was comfortable.  I liked the mix of patterns in my skirt, top and Fossil bag, and the mix of textures with the silky pleats and sequins tank.

Made to be together...
I had wine in a plastic cup with a lid (thoughtful of them, really), I experienced a stadium "take one and pass it on" with Lindt chocolates (or in my case, take 3 and pass it on and pretend like you're getting them for your kids but then really eat them all on the way home), which might rank as one of the coolest things ever, I met yet another local savvy mommy blogger, Kim, of Mommy knowsAnd I did it all in a base outfit that cost $8.

Thanks Sheri for a fun night!  One of these days I will return the favour and take you shopping for some VV Boutique Style fun!  Less wine and more shirtlessness (your own, in the fitting room), but still a good time!

  2. Yup. I concur. Did I even spell that right?! One of my favorite outfits, too. And I love how the jean jacket finishes it off. But then, I do love jean jackets! And sparkles. And Fossil. :)
