Sky in photo is brighter than it appeared.
I had two choices: wear pants or wear a warm dress. I think the answer is obvious and I turned to the 9 in 6 Style Challenge for inspiration...
Wear a Maxi Dress to Work
Max Studio maxi dress B.T. (before thrifting), boyfriend blazer $7, pointy flats $6
Accessories from my closet including the necklace from my Splurge Sorority "Fave Things" party
I recently had this dress hemmed. It was just a little too long to be practical for... wearing. I'm simply too old to act cool and nonchalant while tripping over my dress. I already pushed my luck once wearing it to work at the longer length and it wasn't exactly a rousing success, so I thought I'd give this dress another try. I turned to Pinterest for some quick style inspiration...

This was but one example, and it seemed the general style formula for wearing maxi dresses to work is:
- choose a maxi dress you like
- add a blazer
- add some professional looking shoes and accessories
That's my "I'm a very serious professional" look.
I held that for all of about 2 seconds. You can't be too serious when you work in pediatrics.
My verdict on this work maxi look: success! The simple accessories and closed-toed shoes added some professional cred, and the blazer hemline hit me in the right spot.
If you're looking for simple successful style, give your maxis a work-go by following that style formula! Be sure to snap a selfie and tag me @VVBoutiqueStyle and/or use #9in6Style - not only will you look great, but you'll be entered to win a $20 credit on the Sister Thrifters site. (Right now there's an AMAZING vintage Ungaro dress.) What do you say - would YOU wear a maxi dress to work?
